Newborn Gift Vouchers are available

An ideal and unique present for any baby shower or baby reveals party is a gift voucher for a newborn photo shoot.

The excitement of a pregnancy can be the most exciting time of your life. You will have so many things to arrange such as prams, beds and sleeping arrangements your time is likely to fly by.

Suggesting to a friend that a gift voucher would be a welcome present is another thing ticked off your long and very important list.

Many mums to be or their family and friends do not realise that you can book your newborn photoshoot in advance too. Let’s face it, once your baby has been born, your time can get limited as your routines change.

You can provisionally book your newborn baby shoot anytime after your 20-week scan.

We will work around your due date but only use it as a guide. We all know, that babies arrive when they want to so once they are here, a quick call, text or email to me and we can fix the date for the shoot that suits you.

It is that easy as I will always juggle my diary to accommodate baby photoshoots.

The best time for a newborn baby photoshoot

You can have some stunning images of your beautiful newborn baby at any time, but we recommend that the first 4 to 10 days may give you the best results, simply because baby is still a little ‘bendy’ and certainly more sleepy at this very early stage. I am happy to photograph your baby at any age.

You don’t need to worry about costumes either as we have many to choose from at the studio, so that’s one less thing for you to worry about.

And you don’t need to worry if your dates change, I am very flexible and will always accommodate an early or late arrival. I would recommend you book your photoshoot around the time you have your first scan.

Pregnancy Photoshoots – Before the birth, I can arrange a tasteful and elegant photoshoot of mum and bump to any level of ‘bump’ you are comfortable with.

There is more information on our Maternity photoshoot page.

Mums the word!

This may be my studio but I want you to be aware and in no doubt that we know mum is in charge. No-one will know your baby as well as mum, even at such an early age.

I will guide you nearer the time on preparation for your photoshoot with the best feeding times and clothing.

I will also remind you that the studio will be very warm, for babys sake so you won’t need to dress for winter.

I have been doing newborn baby photoshoots long enough to know that you will have a pretty good idea of what you prefer and what you simply dislike.

Certain styles, colours, it’s all taken into consideration and I will work with you to obtain the images you wish for. Of course, I can offer some advice and together we will make a great team.

I shoot different styles that include props, digital and flatbed.

If you have a favourite photograph you want to try something similar, let me know and we can see what we can do.

I understand there is sometimes a need for a little privacy and we have a family room set aside, especially for mother and baby.

This is fully kitted out with a full-length mirror so mum can take her time to get ready if she wants a few pictures with the baby, this is highly recommended of course.

For a small extra fee, I can provide a make-up artist to help mum relax and get ready.

Safety and comfort is important

My priority is always mother and baby. Your well being always comes first, then, we concentrate on making beautiful & stunning newborn baby photos.

The studio is always warm and a big comfortable chair has mums name on it.

We will start with a little chat and a cup of tea or coffee. I then have a number of swaddles and outfits ready once mum has put baby into one of our special vests.

I have a special Newborn baby posing bed and a number of props and wicker baskets that create that awe factor.

I can create memorable picture in many different colours, neutral as well as pinks and blues. I have also a great selection of fancy digital backdrops we can discuss.

Shots with Mum and Dad are always great to look back on and skin on skin images are popular and timeless. I have picture albums for you to pick ideas from so don’t worry.

And Dad too...

Skin on skin baby and parent are a popular option.

Newborn Questions & Answers

Do you have a list of things I may need to know?

I have put together a small blog article that covers all the main points you need to know which can be read by clicking here.

When should I book my newborn photoshoot?

You can reserve your spot by booking in after 20 weeks. We will work on your due date to give us an idea of when you are likely to need the studio. Once the baby arrives, a quick call from you and we will firm up all the arrangements.

How long is the photoshoot?

Much will depend on what type of pictures you want. There are different formats such as Baby only, Baby with parents, Baby with siblings and Baby with Grandparents.  It also depends on the Baby Boss! Generally speaking, basic shoots last around 2 to 3 hours and I am willing to run to a maximum of 4 hours if needs be.

Do I need to bring any outfits?

You certainly don’t need too but if you have something special then bring it along.  Just let me know beforehand.

Is everything clean?

Its spotless! and Dettol and other Covid killing gels & sprays are used on everything.

Are your newborn photoshoots near me?

We are near everywhere!

Your invoice and booking confirmation will be emailed to you.

What happens during the photo session?

We usually start with a cup of tea or coffee and of course, a little chat.

I want to get a feel for your needs and preferences. How they will be using the photos? This is so I can give you appropriate aspect ratios, set the right tone.

We can discuss backdrops and preference of colours.

During the headshot session I will talk you through every step of the way. You have nothing to worry about, I will try to make this an enjoyable experience.

I will mix up different types of lighting, backdrops and props to get you a variety of beautiful images to choose from.

Do you do home visits for Newborn Baby photoshoots?

As a general rule all my newborn photoshoots are done in my studio where all the costumes and props are stored. If due to any medical or health reason, mother or baby could not attend the studio, I would be as helpful as possible with a home visit. Just give me a call.

What happens if I want more images than the package provides?

Don’t worry, extra images can be purchased.

How long before I receive my finished images?

Once you have chosen your images I will process them for you.
There is a lot of editing to do on newborn pictures (usually around a hour on each one). I balance the colours and lighting but maintain your natural look so no-one would ever know thay have been professionally re-touched. Depending on my workload they are usually presented to you within 28 days. Holiday times can lead to delays however you will be informed of that upon booking.

Can baby be photographed with siblings and grandparents?

Of course, we will however have to plan this so prior notice is a must.

Can baby be photographed with pets?

I will always try, much depends on the pet and the logistics, we will however have to plan this so prior notice is a must.

This is usually done at the end of the session and will rely on a family friend or relative bringing the pet along later.

What is a newborn studio?

A newborn studio is designed to cater for babies. Especially designed photographic equipment,  wraps, props, beanbags and lots of backdrops.

Baby safety if of paramount importance, no hot drinks are allowed in the studio etc, however I have a large and very comfortable changing room for parents with a kettle, fridge and all the trimmings including large mirrors.

How do you get those beautiful portraits?

After many years of tuition and practise most photographers will develope their own style or combination of styles.

I like to use a mixtue of poses (1) where the baby is on their own on certain props or the specialist baby bed, (2) Digital imagery where some of the props or special effects are added in post production and (3) baby shots with their parents.

How much does a Newborn Photography studio photoshoot cost?

Different studios will have different rates. As my studio is away from the city centre my running costs are low and my fees are very competitive.

I offer various newborn photoshoot packages.

I have a set fee for the photo session and then you are free to purchase whatever package you wish that suits your budget.

I have additional products available with no obligation and a full product list and session fee guide can be supplied upon request, simply complete the enquiry form below.
