I work from Atherton Photo Studio which is based in North Manchester between Wigan and Bolton.

It’s very easy to get to and is just off junction 5 of the M61 and just an hour from Leeds, Liverpool, Lancaster or Stoke.

The studio has a private family dressing room fully kitted out with comfortable seats, a dressing table, mirrors and the all-important kettle.

The kids just love the attention and fuss of the day and a photoshoot of this nature can be used as a treat or a present.

To smile or not to smile, that is the question?

Despite these sessions being light-hearted and fun, the question of smiling is often a question for the parent to answer.

Keeping to the traditional fine art style, most models do not smile. This is often a preferred choice for children whose teeth are still growing. However, if smiling is a preference, then that’s what I will certainly do. More often than not, I will present you will a mixture of both so you can decide.

Prepare for your portrait photo session

Before the day of the photoshoot, I will have a quick chat with the parent to discuss what to wear and understand your requirements.

We will also discuss colours so I can have the best complementary backdrops ready to go.

There should be plenty of time for different costume changes and the pace of the day should be gentle and unrushed.

Most images are ready within 7 to 14 days and will be made available to you via our online gallery where you will be free to download your purchased images as many times as you wish within 12 months from the photography session.

Gift vouchers are available for children fine art and/or classic photography photoshoots.

Fine arts photography for siblings

Although most photo sessions are done on a one to one basis, its possible to involve siblings and parents if you should so desire, so never rule anything out and feel free to ask.
